Last saturday was the Red Hook Criterium Barcelon No.3! Red Hook Criterium is an awesome race made by David Trimble. The race consist on some qualifying rounds to take position on the 95 racers Final Race!
But the Red Hook Barcelona grows a lot, and this year they got 320 competitors:
- 85 best qualifying laps pass directly to the Final Race
- 86-150 best qualifying laps go to the Last Chance Race
- The 10 First on the Last Chance Race pass to the Final Race
QUALIFYING
Warm up on the Team Area before racing on our Qualifying round. On the Qualifying rounds, every rider got 10 min warm up on the circuit and 15 min to make the best lap he can. Only best lap counts.
This year the circuit was changed to a fastest one. So I decide to use 48-15 to qualify.
On the qualifying I began to ride with my Teammate Toms Alsbergs. When the 10 min warm up pass, we saw that we got the circuit clear. So we began our fast lap. Nearly arriving to the 180º corner we found a big group going slowly. We try to overtake them, but I take the inside of the 180º scraping with the pedal to the floor and falling down. I take the bike and I began to pedal to take another fast lap. But my power was not the same, and finally I take 1min 51sec.
Ended the Qualifying we saw the results:

After a neutralized lap (leaded by David Trimble), the race began. Ainara Elbusto takes the lead for almost all laps.
On the lasts laps, Kacey Lloyd takes the lead and won the race! Ainara takes the second place and my Teammate Alicia Gonzalez takes the 4th place!

The race began, and everyone began to run so fast! I big group take the lead for lot of laps.
After 15 laps (more or less) Mario Paz Duque take the lead with and awesome gap, followed by Ivan Ravaioli. They began to make 2s bigger the gap for lap.
At 20 laps (6 to go) the gap with the first group was of 20sec, and it's a lot! The first group was making huge endeavor to catch them, but it as impossible.
On the 25 (2laps to go) lap it happened an accident on the third corner, not a big one, but the race marshalls decide to stop the race (RED FLAG).
The race began again! The race marshalls let Mario and Ivan the gap of 20sec and they run for the checked flag on a 2 lap race face to face! On the last lap, Ivan take the lead, Mario tried to catch him on the last corner. But Ivan cross the finish line the first.
